The average Joe or Jane sometimes exhausts their body in a short period of time because we are trying to fit everything on the weekend when we have more time. While professional soccer players have multiple days between matches, a lot of average recreational players can go two or three days of straight intense competitive matches. A study of runners at Indiana University showed that most injuries are suffered during moments of fatigue. And yet we keep going. This past weekend I did something different.

I played an intense day of soccer but I decided to visit the yoga studio the following morning instead of my normal routine of soccer two days in a row. The yoga allowed my muscles to unwind after an intense effort the previous day. I also felt very refreshed and reenergized on my Monday morning commute to work. Especially with the holiday circuit of parties and travel play smart and don’t overdo it.
